What we have now seen from the discussion above is that Estonians have made good use of symbolic convergence in a few cases. Yet there are also negative myths that might reinforce self-destructive behaviour (the slavery myth and the dying out myth). It also seems that Estonians lack the myth that would give justification and goal for the nation at the time of freedom: the questions of what is the reason for the Estonian nation, what is its mission in this world are not symbolically answered. Until there is an answer to this, freedom could be quite dangerous - without a rhetorical vision a nation is like an HIV positive - even simple and harmless infections can have large-scale devastating effects.
